Course Profile
The purpose of this qualification is to confirm occupational competence and provide learners, with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to take up roles within the stewarding and spectator safety industry.
This qualification aims to:
Focus on the study of the Stewarding and Spectator Safety industry
Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge
Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills.
The objectives of this qualification are to help develop skills and competence to:
– Prepare for spectator events
– Assist with the movement of spectators and deal with crowd issues at events
– Manage and resolve conflicts
– Deal with incidents at spectator events
– Support the work of your team and organisation.
Course Content
The course covers a number of modules including preparation for stewarding activities, identifying and dealing with physical hazards, knowing how to prepare for stewarding activities, how to search the venue for suspect items and controlling the entry and exit of people at events. It also covers how to provide people with information and help them with other problems as well as how to search people for unauthorised items.
In order to achieve this certificate, learners are required to complete the following seven mandatory units:
– Preparing for spectator events
– Assisting with the movement of spectators
– Dealing with crowd issues at events
– Managing and resolving conflicts
– Dealing with incidents at spectator events
